Staff Spotlight: Denny Lee

Next up for our staff spotlight is Denny Lee! Denny is an integral member of our ALP team and ensures our prepress department runs smoothly:

1) How long have you worked at Associated?

It will be 24 years this coming September. 

2) Describe your journey at Associated so far.

It has certainly been a challenging yet very fun and rewarding journey for me. There were four of us in the prepress department when I started, but now we have grown to a team of fourteen people. Experiencing all of this growth, along with the knowledge gained over the years, gives me a sense of accomplishment.

3) How would you describe the work environment?

It's a very fun and outgoing place to work in and like a second home for me. It’s a place where you want to be, even if there are challenges.

4) What is your favourite thing about working here?

After all of these years, I would certainly have to say the people. You meet so many people short and long term, and you get to know them, and it feels great to be surrounded and supported by amazing people. The diversity of our team here also gives me a sense of belonging.

5) What's been your best day at work so far?

Every day is a good day. However, the last day is always the best, and I always looking forward to tomorrow.

6) What are you most proud of since working here?

It makes me proud to see where ALP is today and contribute and have input throughout the years I've been here.

7) What is the biggest challenge you've had since working here?

Every day brings its challenges! For me in my department, it can be challenging to try to stick with our processes and operating procedures, all while staying on top of the demand from our customers and other department team members.

8) Do you have a particular moment or memory at Associated that stands out for you?

Every time the Prepress department location is moved or updated is always a good memory. It reminds me that we’re expanding all the time. I think we have moved locations more than five times since I have been here!

9) What does a typical day look like for you, and what are you currently working on?

A typical day for me is full of surprises. From checking emails to troubleshooting and giving advice to the departments for daily functions. There are always new things that come up, and there is always a way to figure the best and efficient way to tackle them.

10) Describe the advancement opportunities here.

There is plenty of advancement here, as we are rapidly expanding in many ways in our department and the company. The opportunities are limitless!

11) How does Associated support professional development?

Associated full supports and encourages training and development! 

12) What is on your wish list for the next 5 years?

To see ALP grow and prosper even more and to be a part of it along the way. Also, to be a better person and be more positive, especially with the current craziness and uncertainty today.

13) Given the chance, who would you be for a day?

I would never trade a day to be someone else. I'm very grateful for what I have and for my two girls!
