We've mentioned our collaborative relationship with the Rutgers University Food Science Department a few times across our website and social media, and they even joined us at the PMA Fresh Summit last year! In today's post, we wanted to dive a little deeper and explain our partnership further.
We regularly collaborate with Dr. Nazir Mir and Dr. Kit Yam, who are both affiliated with the Rutgers University Food Science Department (NJ, USA). Dr. Mir is a well-published researcher and has worked closely with the fresh produce industry for over 30 years with close ties to growers, packers, distributors, and retailers. Dr. Kit Yam is a professor at Rutgers University in the Food Science department and is also the editor-in-chief of the packaging encyclopedia.
Together, we are working to develop micro-perforated film structures customized to fit various fresh produce respiration requirements. The various perforation patterns help maintain the quality of fresh produce during distribution and extend shelf life. All of our new product development related to food or produce protection, testing, and technology optimization will be carried out with Dr. Mir's and Dr. Yam's support.
This is a huge support when it comes to offering innovations in food packaging. Providing this technology and safety level to our customers (and their customers) is so important, especially today.
