Associated Labels and Packaging Turns 40

MILESTONE: 40 YEARS OF ASSOCIATED LABELS AND PACKAGING

July 1, 2020, marks the 40th anniversary for Associated Labels and Packaging, the family-owned and operated printing and packaging manufacturer located in Western Canada. 

Vancouver, BC, Canada - From a small print shop with two employees grew Associated Labels and Packaging (ALP), a 100,000-square-foot facility that spans over four buildings with almost two hundred employees. In 1980, Rusty Ashworth purchased a small printing shop downtown and became its President for the next thirty-two years. During this time, he oversaw such additions as an in-house art department, a custom equipment division, and expansion into flexible packaging, to name a few, that grew a small business into the full-service facility it is today.

In 2012, Rusty's eldest son, Shaun, took over as ALP President and brought the company into a new era. In the following years, Shaun's leadership led to the acquisition of a Windmöller & Hölscher 52" Miraflex CI Press, an HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press, a fourth building which took the facility size to over 100,000 square feet, capabilities in compostable and recyclable packaging, and the implementation of IFC PACsecure. All of these updates allowed Associated Labels and Packaging to expand their offering significantly and cater to a broader range of industries, making them a one-stop-shop for all things print and packaging. 

Shaun reflected on Associated Labels and Packaging's 40th anniversary by saying, "People are everything. We can have the best machines, nicest facility, and state-of-the-art technology, but without great attitudes, passion, positivity, and a true feeling of family, we are nothing. A machine is just a piece of steel, a building is just a box, and technology is just a service. Over the last 40 years, we have facilitated the most energetic, intelligent, and fantastic humans I have ever met, and I am so proud to call them my family!" 

Today, Associated Labels and Packaging is a fun, family company that offers premium-quality products and services which align the diverse needs and dreams of our ambitious customers.
